Environmental/Personality Portrait

Julia Clauset, 66, poses next to her collection of Buddhist statues in her antique store on April 28. Clauset has owned Jelita Arts, located in Fairhaven, for five years. "I collect pieces from all over the world. It's a very diverse store," she said. Clauset buys her antique pieces from auctions and other collectors. "I like pieces that have to do with art-nouveau," she said. In Jelita Arts, one can find distinct antique pieces that range from Eastern to Western cultures. Clauset is originally from Indonesia, which is where she came up with the name for her store. "'Jelita' is an Indonesian word that means 'beautiful,'" she said.

Icebreaker Photoshoot-What Does Love Mean to You?

While waiting for customers at the hot dog stand in Fairhaven, Anna "Phoenix" McCleery, 17, takes some time to talk about love. "You don't know what love is until you've had your heart broken," she said. Although McCleery has definitely had her heart broken before, she is still hopeful and thinks that love is a great thing.

On Tuesday April 20 Nathan Pridgen hangs out with some friends in down town Bellingham. Instead of talking about characteristics of love, Pridgen discussed exactly what he loves most. "Well, I love myself and I love Marylin Manson," he said. Marylin Manson is one of Pridgen's favorite musicians and he has seen him in concert several times.

Wyatt Shipp, 7, runs around with his sister Kate after leaving Sierna Gelato in Fairhaven on Wednesday April 21. With a big smile on his face and looking to his mom for an answer, Shipp said "I can't choose just one thing, love is everything!" After he couldn't think of a final answer, Shipp said that it is possible to just love everything in the whole world.

He and Smokey live on his boat, the "Pacific Hustler" where they go crabbing every summer. "We're just waiting for this stormy weather to die down, then we're going crabbing," he said. This summer, McCann plans to go crabbing from La Push to Neah Bay.
